Day in the Life – Arron Hurn, Regional Sales Manager

5 min read
Welcome to our Meet the Team series - your chance to get to know the people behind LEC Medical. First up, we caught up with one of our Regional Sales Managers for a quick Q&A. From what a typical day looks like to what they enjoy most about the role, this conversation gives a behind-the-scenes look at life on the frontline supporting our customers.

The Role

Sum up your job in one sentence:
I provide expert guidance, training, and on-site support to NHS accounts and distributors, ensuring the right medical refrigeration solutions are selected and effectively managed across my region.

What does a typical day look like for you?
My day starts by making sure both my car and I are fully charged - fresh coffee with a splash of oat milk is essential! I begin by reviewing and responding to emails, ensuring every enquiry is acknowledged within 24 hours. From there, I head out to meet NHS customers or distributor partners, where my focus might be delivering on-site training, discussing upcoming initiatives, or highlighting the commercial and sustainability benefits of choosing LEC Medical refrigeration.

Some days take me just around the corner; others see me travelling hundreds of miles from my home in Paisley. No two days are ever the same, but they’re always busy making sure every call, message, and enquiry is handled thoroughly and professionally. I wrap up the day by confirming all support requests are complete and preparing for the next, whether that’s back home or on the road, ready to do it all again.

Where do you spend most of your time (road, office, home)?
As Regional Sales Manager for the North, no two days or weeks are ever the same. I spend the majority of my time on the road, working closely with our fantastic customers, ensuring their current refrigeration solutions are performing exactly as they should, resolving any challenges, and supporting new projects from concept through to completion. Alongside this, I also dedicate time to meeting prospective customers, building new relationships and introducing them to the benefits of our LEC Medical range.

What might surprise people about your job?
What often surprises people is that we don’t just sell fridges. We’re the face of LEC Medical on the ground. Our role goes far beyond supplying equipment; we act as trusted advisors, supporting customers with the real-world challenges they face in medical refrigeration.

Whether it’s delivering tailored training, offering guidance on best practice, or providing data-driven insights into cost and energy efficiency, I’m there to support every aspect of how our products are used. From helping sites optimise performance to ensuring they’re getting the most value from their investment, it’s about building partnership and trust, not just making a sale.

Customers

What do customers value most about Lec Medical?
Over the past 12 months, we’ve made some truly significant changes, and it’s incredibly rewarding to hear such positive feedback from our customers. They consistently highlight how proactive and responsive we are, as well as how present and approachable our team is.

That level of engagement gives customers real confidence that they know they have a dependable partner who is always on hand to provide support, guidance, and reassurance whenever it’s needed.

Why is your role important in healthcare?
My role is vital because it bridges the gap between simply purchasing a fridge and selecting the right solution for critical healthcare needs. Given the nature of medical refrigeration, there can often be uncertainty around choosing the most suitable unit for each specific application.

I’m there to provide clarity, reassurance, and expert guidance, ensuring customers feel confident they’re making the right choice. Ultimately, it’s about supporting healthcare teams with reliable, compliant solutions that protect the integrity of what matters most, from medicines to patient care.

Team

How would you describe the Lec Medical team?
We may be a small team, but we pride ourselves on being highly effective. Working closely together, we operate as one cohesive unit, ensuring every enquiry and every project is managed with the goal of exceeding customer expectations.

Our size allows us to stay agile and truly listen; every piece of customer feedback is valued, heard, and acted upon. We’re a diverse, passionate, and collaborative team, united by a shared commitment to delivering the very best support and service.

What do you enjoy most about working here?
One of the aspects I enjoy most is having the opportunity to directly influence business decisions through real customer feedback. Working with such a diverse range of professionals gives me valuable insight, which I can feed back into the business to help shape how we improve and evolve.

What makes it especially rewarding is that this feedback is genuinely listened to and we’re actively encouraged to drive positive, meaningful change. It’s all part of our commitment to making medical refrigeration as straightforward and user-friendly as possible for our customers, from purchase through to daily use.

Personal

What do you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I’m currently studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics, which takes up a good portion of my time and keeps me constantly learning and challenged. Alongside that, coming from a multinational family, travel is really important to me, my partner and I make sure to spend time in Slovakia, Germany, and Italy, enjoying different cultures and reconnecting with family.

How do you unwind after a busy week?
After a busy week, I like to slow things down by spending time in the kitchen, baking traditional European treats. I also enjoy tending to my vegetable garden, it’s a great way to switch off, even if it sometimes means chasing my dogs away from helping themselves to the carrots.
