GDPA (Glen Dimplex Professional Appliances)
was set up in May 2007 to manage the supply of specialist equipment,
specifically designed for the professionals who use it.
The Glen Dimplex Group was founded in 1973,
and is the world’s largest electrical heating business, holding significant
market positions in the domestic appliance industry worldwide. Fundamental to its success is a policy of
continuous investment in building brands, constant product innovation and
providing its customers with the products which they aspire to.
GDPA manufactures and markets the
well-known Lec refrigeration brand, first launched in 1942, which it acquired
in 2005. Lec has set many milestones in
refrigeration over the past 66 years. As
far back as 1956 Lec set up a special product division to produce low
temperature cabinets for hospitals, aviation and atomic research.
Once the brand became part of the Glen
Dimplex Group, the company set out to develop a new, customer-focused range of
medical and commercial products, which was successfully launched last year.
As part of GDPA, Lec Medical is dedicated
to the manufacture of medical refrigeration products for pharmacies, wards, and
laboratories with a wide range of sizes and formats.
All Lec Medical pharmaceutical fridges conform
to the recommendations for storage of vaccines as outlined by the National
Pharmacy Association (NPA); refrigerators used for pharmaceutical stock must be
capable of storing products between +2°C and +8°C and must be equipped with a
maximum/minimum thermometer which is checked each day and the maximum and
minimum temperatures recorded.
In addition to this all Lec Medical fridges
are fully lockable to prevent unauthorised access and to ensure that all
medicines remain secure and the pharmacy range includes a wide range of other
advantages that are sure to benefit any practice.
- An
external LED temperature display makes it easy to check the internal
temperature.
- A fanned cooling
system gives better temperature stability and rapid temperature recovery
after door opening.
- An
audio/visual alarm system that activates if the fridge goes beyond the set
temperature parameters, whether high or low.
- An open
door sensor on some of the models alerts the user if someone has accidentally
left a door open.
The above benefits are particularly
important when you consider that research has shown that domestic refrigerators
are still being used to store vaccines. This can damage the effectiveness of
the vaccines and could also pose a security risk for medicines that should be
locked away.
The Lec Medical range of pharmacy products includes counter-top, under
worktop and free-standing models, glass or solid doors and with capacities from
41 litres to 444 litres. The glass doors are made with toughened safety glass, and most
refrigerators have an internal
fluorescent light.
All models are environmentally
friendly, being CFC, HCFC and HFC free, with some of the range using R600a
refrigerant delivering lower energy costs.
All Lec Medical products are supplied with
a 12 month parts and labour warranty but, in the unlikely event of a problem,
GDPA is supported by the Glen Dimplex Home Appliance customer care centre, who
have won the Total Excellence & Quality Awards three years in a row. The customer care centre has 105 telephone
engineers and 135 nationwide field service engineers ensuring you of a fast and
knowledgeable backup.
